Mouse driving me crazy!!

I don,t know what,s going on. I have a Windows Vista basic 32 bit. I,ve had it less then a year and never really had any problems, but lately my mouse has been going nuts. I can,t control it. It doesn,t want to go where I need it to go. I,ve tried everything. Checked my driver, cleaned the ball, ( It,s not a wireless or optical one.) Anyway, I,ve googled it, went to several web sites and followed their instructions, etc. Nothing helps. Maybe I just need a new one, but it,s not that old. I hope someone can help me. It acts as if its stuck or something is pulling on it at times. It,s driving me nuts!

Yeah, I had a mouse that did that increasingly more over time... I ended up replacing it.

sounds like the actual mouse itself. how old is your mouse? if its over 5-6 yrs, try looking for a new one

Have you got any "speed up your computer" type programs as they can cause your mouse to stutter.
Have you scanned for malware?

Get a cheap mouse to replace it to see if that works. The local superstores sell cheap versions of most things.

You've cleaned the ball, but have you cleaned the rollers that the ball acts upon? What about the spring-loaded pressure roller? That needs cleaning as well. It is possible for the spring to weaken so that insufficient pressure is applied to the ball.

Having said that, you will probably benefit from a new mouse, and I would recommend an optical model, such as the one that I use.
