name of ISO file

I want to reinstall Vista on my laptop. I want to create a restore DVD. Does the ISO file have to have a particular file name like "install.iso" or "setup.iso" or "windows.iso"? If so, what is the required file name?

I need a bit more information, as I think I see a problem. Where did you get this .iso file? I am not deliberately avoiding your question, and I will help you.

I guess that there are 2 phases to create a restore DVD. Create an image of the hard drive & save it as an ISO file & then use that ISO file to create a bootable DVD.

Basically, the iso has to be extracted onto the DVD, and there have to be specific files on the DVD which have specific names and content. We will deal with this later.

Did you create this .iso yourself? Is it just a compressed copy of your hard disk drive? How big is it?

If you create an Image of your Hardrive then the File Size would bigger than the space on a DVD
