Solved need help with system restore

hi i'm not sure if this is not the right area for this question. i have a acer aspire 6920 with vista home premium 32bit, i did a system restore and now for the past 24 hours my screen has been black and i can't get it to do anything. any help would be great

Have you tried SAFE MODE then use the info in the article at the link below to see if it will correct the problem.

thankyou for the link it was kinda helpful. but my laptop is froze up it will not shut down nothing but a black screen, its been like that for 12 hours

Unplug it and take out the battery and then put it back in and start it up.

If you get the same problem after trying Mansrm81 suggestion:

1. As Bare Foot Kid posted - see if you can get into Safe Mode ( start the pc , press F8 repeatedly during the black screen with white writing ).

Then select Last Known Good Configuration.

2. Or select Safe Mode and perform a System restore from there to undo the previous one.

3. If you can't get into Safe Mode, boot from the disc you have , go into system recovery options, and try system restore from there.

4. If you don't have any kind of disc, you can create one from a download :

Windows Vista Recovery Disc Download — The NeoSmart Files

burn it to cd with this (do not format the cd- if autoplay pops up, just close it.

thank you all very much for your help. when i started it up it said system restore was successfully completed. and the driver that was not working is working agian. what would have caused it to lock up like that? thanks agian you guys saved me a trip to the computer shop for nothing. thanks

well all i did was took the battery out of it for 10 min and started it up and now all the drivers work again
