Solved Netbook battery not lasting as long as it should!

Heyy!
So i have noticed that my laptop battery isn't lasting as long as it should...

My netbook is an Acer Aspire One 751h-52yk, ive looked back on the box and it clearly says "4 hours + battery life" and i get 2 hours, 2 hours 30 if im lucky...

The power settings are on power saver, screen brightness on lowest, WiFi on, and no other devices connected.

It is still under warranty, but apparently it doesn't cover the battery..

What should i do?!

1. Do you run the battery down low and then charge it fully again often?
2. Are you doing highly demanding tasks? Or is it just idling?
3. Do you regularly run the notebook off the battery? Or is it mostly mains?

Also what type of battery is it here is the following info for each battery type:

If you frequently drain and then recharge a lithium-ion battery, it can quickly lose its ability to hold a charge. The practice of completely draining and then fully charging a battery is advice that applied to nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries and, to a lesser extent, nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. Lithium-ion batteries last longer if you charge them often, a little at a time, to maintain a minimum charge of about 40 percent capacity.

2. Just google chrome open with 5 tabs and windows live messenger normally.
3. mostly battery, but i use mains when i know ill be using it longer that the battery will last.

And its a lithium-ion battery.

And its a lithium-ion battery.

Every time you run a battery low and then charge it back up, it decreases the capacity of the battery and this is probably what has happened to you. The only way to solve this, is to buy a new battery but beware it should cost you around £50

Okay, thanks for searching for me..
I remember i managed to get 3 hours 30 out of it, but that was ages ago..
A new battery it is, ill check with my dad once more to see if the battery is covered on the warranty.

Just a quick one, how far should i use the battery down to, im on 19% at the moment, any lower or too far?

Well you should always try to keep it as high as possible, because low percentages will reduce the capacity of the battery over time, but personally, I try to keep my battery over 50%. But if you have to then thats fine, just don't go below the point when windows warns you of low battery.

With lithium batteries they work best when the charge is above 40% so try and keep it above 40%

Good news!
After a bit of an argument with Acer we phoned Tesco and explained to them what has happened.
So in the post in the next few days i should be receiving a brand new 3 cell battery.

And the best thing is that i dont have to send the old battery back, so now im gunna have roughly 6-7 hours spread out over 2 batteries!!

Thanks, ill Remember that when im out and about, having 2 batteries should be easier to manage; Swap for a fully recharged battery, and charge the other one when im near a power outlet.
