Ello I am confused with this issue. I have searched through out google and found some tips on Microsoft's tech net but none to which has solved this problem.

I just recently *Last night* did a re install of windows vista ultimate x64.
The dvd drive works fine in the bios and in other things but refuses to (Load a driver in windows) Vista is giving me a code 10 (this driver is installed correctly but can not start) and I can not get it to work at all.

This has never happened to me with this computer running said os.

This is a fresh install/re install.
Also it has been bsod with some error about ntfs.sys but I have yet to see that happen since I changed the drivers for the sata controller. *same version I used before formatting and reinstalling windows. The sata controller is integrated into the south bridge controller which is the SB710 if I remember correctly.

PS. I just fixed an issue with windows update so I will see if this somehow will solve the issue.

The issue was resolved with SP1
*If anyone is doing a fresh install of vista remember that if you are using AHCI and you have a sata dvd/cd-rom drive it will not work untill you get sp1 *Found out the hard way*

Of course, you're going to update to SP2 also.

That is an absolute must for vista. Along with up to date anti virus and anti spy/mal-ware ;P It also seems the ntfs.sys bsod went away to. It was just odd I never seen that happen >.> and I have re-installed vista many times.
