I had a customer this weekend who could not get the internet no matter what she did. Orange assured her that it was up and running, I went around to see what was up.
It turned out that the extension in her house was very old and only had two wires connecting the socket.
After a bit of moving the modem and computer, she now has access using the master socket.
Not everything is as complicated as it may seem, most things are solvable, there are people out there that would have blamed vista even though it does not matter what OS she was running.
