no scanner installed

I have a good one for you today.
First I have a Gateway DX 4300 05 and one of my printer is a Brother MFC 7740N. This is a muilti-function machine.
My husband's computer is a Dell E 310.

Now, I tried to scan a photo on the Brother. I set it to scan to PC.

So far, so good. (I've used this many times)

But it didn't pop up on my pc screen. It popped up on my husbands screen.
(He does share the printer with me).

What the heck happened? Can anyone help?

Okay, now that is creepy. What happens if your husband's computer is turned off? Will it appear on your monitor then?

Was it originally set up for your husband? What is the output directory?

Do you have a shared folder?

That was going to be my next step. To have him shut his down and he will as soon as he finishes his business. )

It was originally set up for me. He uses the printer but has never used the scanner as far as I know.

What do you mean by 'shared folder'? We share the printer.
Sorry I'm not too smart about this but this one threw me for a loop. lolol

That didn't work. His pc is off and I tried again and got the same message.

Maybe I'll have to uninstall and reinstall and see what happens. What do you think?

Guess it was just stalled or something, but I uninstalled and reinstalled and now it's working just fine. Maybe I'm just too impatient. I've been inside my old pc's and added things but this new one is different . Plus it has Vista and I'm not used to that yet either.
Is that enough excuses? :D
