no sound, please help

Hi guys, i have just installed vista ultimate on my custom build pc. All the drivers are listed in device manager but there is no sound from speakers. When i play a song, it shows that its playing but no sound. Also, when i check in playback devices tab, it shows that i have High Definition Audio Device but when i check in the recording tab, it shows No audio Device Installed. I also downloaded driver from intel but didn't work. Its Intel 945 Desktop motherboard.
Any ideas?

thanks for the quick reply leslie but i followed it and it didnt help. all my bios settings are correct and i tried connecting speakers at the front and back as well. It was working when i had win xp. I just installed vista and i think its the driver which is missing.

Well, I don't know...it's almost two hours since he started this installation. That's weird. :confused: I bet he's reinstalling Vista again. :shock:

That would be a terrible for him, but as it is a new build he might want to have everthing perfect. Or he has gone to work!

Yea, probably he's gone to work. I'm not sure what's time over there, but must be early in the morning. Let's hope he's all right. :D

Thanks Martee, I already tried this one and the other one in the audio list but neither of 'em worked.
I will try the one suggested by Leslie tonight and will let you guys know.

Yeah i reinstalled Vista again but windows update says that it has the latest audio driver but still its not working.
I m sorry for the delayed response but i was out for work and even now i m at office. My girlfriend will try the realtek driver today. Lets hope it works. I m really sick of this problem. Dont know what's causing it. It was working with Win XP. Lets see.
BTW you guys care so much for me... I like it.
