Office Outlook Gadgets for Windows SideShow?

Would anyone happen to have—or know where I could download—the Office Outlook Gadgets (including E-mail, Calendar, Contacts for Outlook 2003 and E-mail, Contacts for Outlook 2007) for Windows SideShow? They are referenced here but the links are no longer working. The installer name is OutlookSideShowGadgets.msi.

I found this to be interesting in the link you provided-

"Microsoft is announcing the availability of an automated Microsoft Fix it solution that disables Windows Sidebar and Gadgets on supported editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7. Disabling Windows Sidebar and Gadgets can help protect customers from potential attacks that leverage Gadgets to execute arbitrary code. "

In addition, it says-

"Customers who are concerned about vulnerable or malicious Gadgets should apply the automated Microsoft Fix it solution as soon as possible."

How did customers know about it? Of course, Fix It is no longer available although I do have a copy of it somewhere.

Yesterday, I was researching Blaidd's problem and found the gadgets for the Windows Sidebar on my system and I am using both. I did find out which .dll he needs but couldn't find a copy of it for download.

OP Blaidd's question was:
Would anyone happen to have—or know where I could download—the Office Outlook Gadgets...
You reinstalled Vista from an ISO a few months ago, so it sounds like you must have them wither 3. (I do not.)

I'm glad you found my link interesting. As I recall, I first learned about the vulnerability of gadgets in 2011 when someone asked why AVG antivirus didn't make a gadget anymore. You are correct that Microsoft Fix-its are no longer available, but the registry edits discussed in the link accomplish exactly the same thing. Some versions of Vista even have a Group Policy UI, but not Home versions like mine. Here is a much more recent Microsoft link that you also may have missed: Customer guidance for CVE-2019-0708.

I was unaware of the update available in the new link you provided to cover the bluekeep problem. I didn't go back and look at the thread but I think that you questioned the availability of an update for Vista. I saw the other day in Wikipedia that an update was made available for Vista but there was no reference to it. I apologize if i misunderstood your other thread. I'm in a hurry right now.

Are there any prerequisites for installing that update?

Off topic of course; but if you are going to be running 6.0.6003 anyway, my advice is to fully update your Windows 6.0 to today's standards.

Thanks. Although off topic, as you know, I lost the ability to boot from either of my hard drives after installing the 2008R2 updates. May be coincidental but I'm now reluctant to install them.

Server 2008 R2 is Windows 6.1, oh guru. Your experience convinces me that a dual boot Vista/Vista system is a bad idea, so good luck to you.

Welcome to Vista Forums Blaidd. Your link is from 2007. Here's a somewhat more recent link that probably explains why you cannot find them (and why many of us would not want them): Vulnerabilities in Gadgets Could Allow Remote Code Execution.
Thank you for your assistance. I understand that the referenced link is dated; however, I have found other gadgets for SideShow released from similar periods. Contrary to the wording of that article official information from Microsoft regarding the potential for vulnerabilities in gadgets dates back to at least 2008. The article further does not reference SideShow gadgets.
Yesterday, I was researching Blaidd's problem and found the gadgets for the Windows Sidebar on my system and I am using both. I did find out which .dll he needs but couldn't find a copy of it for download.
Thank you for your assistance. If I understand you correctly, you are using the gadgets for which I am looking? Office Outlook Gadgets for Windows SideShow? I would really like to have them because of Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 in particular.

I'm using the Windows "Sidebar" gadgets, not "SideShow."

This file is the one I referred to- outlooksideshowgadgets.dll

It would be in C:\Program Files\Windows SideShow\

I also don't have SideShow installed. Perhaps it was only made available in the Ultimate version. However, SideShow is for developers to create gadgets which can then send the respective information that the gadgets collect to other devices.

You will understand the confusion when you realize that you are the one who wrote: "I [...] found the gadgets for the Windows Sidebar on my system and I am using both." Your post indicated that you had the gadgets for which I am searching.

I fully understand what SideShow is. It is available in Home Premium edition of Windows Vista and onward. According to Microsoft, SideShow "makes the PC more useful in more settings," "makes the mobile PC more available for more of the day," and "extends the PC experience to more devices."

SideShow is definitely available in Home Premium! One can find it within the Control Panel.

There was once a free download of the Office gadgets... but they are not available now, at least not from official Microsoft sources.

My apologies.

Sure enough, it's shown in Programs and Features and indicates there are three gadgets available.

I based my comment on the fact that I couldn't find the SideShow folder where I expected.

I found it in C:\Windows\system32\tasks\Microsoft.
