Our eyes.

Well I have all my teeth, even 4 wisdom teeth but eyes are another story.

Some 20 years ago I nearly went blind with the lenses in my eyes severely cataracted - due to a combination of over-exposure to UV light (dang those tanning beds) and use of corto-steroids - used by most people who, like me, have chronic arthritis. I've had it since teenage years.
Anyway, I had both eyes implanted with artificial lenses - a 20-minute op on each eye. (Done one at a time because you have to wear an eye patch for a couple of days afterwards).

Unfortunately that can't give one perfect vision but it did improve on my previous prescription.

I still have to wear multi-focal glasses but not nearly as strong as when my eyes first started failing on me in university. (Imperial, London. in ancient times).

another thing that's true is when you turn 40, stuff happens

..it would be nice to get a new one every 7 years. Maybe some day in the future that will be possible.

I wore eyeglasses in the 4th grade, home computers didn't exist back then. Television did, but I wasn't allowed to watch it continuously. So I don't believe it had any effect on my eyesight.

After age 40, you need to see an opthamologist, and have your retinas checked. Optometrists don't know all the possible eye diseases, opthamologists do.

High eye pressure can cause retina problems, the sooner they catch that, the cheaper it is to do something about it.

I have had retina surgery on both eyes, cannot get lasic due to that.

One eye the doctor found pinholes in my retina, caught early, quick laser surgery.

The other one I had complications, I hadn't been getting yearly checkups on my eyes. Was more expensive and time consuming to get it fixed.

I see fine out of both eyes now.

My husband and I have regular eye check ups every two years but he has to have another special one every year because of being a diabetic.

I know during our regular checks the eye specialist does a particular check to find out eye pressure.

I reckon that I am quite fortunate for my age in that I don't need glasses for anything :D apart from something to hold a drink in!

I use glasses for computers and driving.
I could get away with not wearing them for everyday use because my eyes are not that bad but wearing classes stops them from getting tired.

I am 40 next month, what this about going down hill when you reach 40.

Don't worry about it. It's really down hill from 20, but you don't come to terms with it it until you get to 40 - so the older & wiser ones would have us believe.

My eyes are in bad shape lol. I had went to a doc to see why I couldn't focus, turns out that the muscles that hold the actual eye ball in place to keep focus aren't working correctly. So I need 'physical therapy' for my eyes. Kind of lame because I see 2 of everything

I've had aluminum, copper, wood, drywall chunks, a lot of big damaging things have embedded themselves into my eye. lol.

nearsighted ever since i was 9... i still have glasses.... im now 21 haha
