Solved pdf download

When I view a pdf in my browser, is there a way to later find it on my HDD after I close the browser? I'm guessing that it is in some (cache?) folder but I cannot find it.

Thanks in advance to all who reply,
Dan

A better option would be to save it when you view it as the cache file name won't be what you think

Thanks, but saving the pdf under a meaningful name in a directory of my choice is not a problem; I'm just interested in seeing where the browser stores the pdf within Firefox before I take over.

about:cache

I tried 'about:cache' and it led me to a folder on my PC with a bunch of entries like this:
AKPhkktfblEdAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC
ff-cache.JPG
etc...
Not sure how to interpret?!?
When I view a link to a pdf in my Firefox browser, before I download it to a directory of my choice I'm curious to see where FF is stashing it.
Thanks,
Dan

When you have a pdf open there should be the option to save it. There is in Firefox. Also try right clicking on the link and selecting save link as.

Thanks, but I have no problem for me to save the PDF, I only want to know where Firefox stores it before I do that.

tools > options (or about:preference) there is a downloads section where you specify where you want Firefox to save downloads or to always ask you where you want to save downloads.

I always have this radio button checked: Always ask me where to save files
The PDF is displayed before I personally request the download so I'm still puzzled where it is being stored by Firefox.
Thanks,
Dan

If online PDFs have not always opened in a Firefox tab, then there are probably some PDFs in Users\you\AppData\Local\Temp

I have a button on the bar on the top of the pdf window whitch allows me to save a pdf. In addition while on a pdf I can click on file > save page as and it will allow me to save it as a pdf. Look at the options.

This is the answer,

In your browser type
about:cache

Your post right after it,

http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/304306-pdf-download.html#post1405587

Shows you found the location, though not much can be deciphered from those entries.

I also posted in your other thread,

where is the PDF that my browser is displaying?

I told you where it was (in the browser cache) and how to find it (type about:cache in the browser) and also told you the file names would not be what you expect.
All the above you have found
