Problem

Hi folks,need a lil help here with my pc, with the following specifications- 40GIG HD,512 RAM and WIN XP. It was formatted recently and lately its been showing me that the HD is full whereas the documents i have are not even up to 512MB. I know its a virus attack. I have an updated version of AVG antivirus and ran a complete system scan. How can i be able to fix the system without necessary formatting it.

Welcome to Vista Forums.

What makes you think it is a virus? A 40 gig HD is kinda small for Vista in my opinion. Yes it can be done, but my clean install of Vista Ult.x64 takes up 25 gb (bit smaller for x86) with only AV installed. So add a couple gigs of programs, Restore points, page file etc.

You could try an online virus scan to be sure.

The OS is not vista,but XP. I did restore points but it didnt work,i dont understand the page file your talking about,how do you use it? and the programs,which one are you talking about?
