Window Host Process (Rundll32) has stopped working

I cant open IE, and i get Firefox has stopped working and chrome has stopped working, however with firefox it eventually opens. I also I get Rundll32 errors in other places, like when i right click on desktop and click personalize... none of those options seem to work. In System32, the rundll32.exe looks like a page icon

I have tried
1) f takedown to take control of rundll, rebooted in safe mode and tried to del, ACCESS DENIED
2) i tried sfc /scannow.... twice (cbv.log shows only problem being the sidebar)
3) i tried Nero/DsFilter thingy... renamed all those, didnt work
4) ran IObit Malware fighter ... fixed errors, but no improvement
5) ran Spybot found a few things there like babylon, fixed those... no improvement
6) i uninstalled Nero which was a trial that came with the pc, and uninstalled Quicktime and Xvid no change
7) in Control panel/System/adv settings/performance settings/Data execution Prevention, i added Rundll32... but nothing changed
8) i Tried msconfig> services> hid all microsoft services and disabled the rest. Restarted, but the problem remained

9)I created a new user account and was able to open IE, at some point i received another rundll error report, but that was it. There is a terrible lag, pages struggle to open, firefox takes up to 3min before it opens. this is not better
10) i tried opening IE w/o add ons... but it keeps giving me the Internet Explorer has stopped working error
----------------------------------------------------

I got Vista with my laptop so i dont have the Installation CD, also no back ups. And no decent Restore point.. i always use the hybernate option( learnt my lesson now)
Is there something that i havent tried? Please help!!!

Solution: I first Uninstalled IE, which didnt work actually, then after restart i just reset it... problem solved :)

Welcome
Burn this ISO to a CD
Then try to extract the file that is needed and replace the defective rundll32.
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/261616-extract-files-vista-installation-dvd.html
Then try a repair install
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html?filter[11]=Performance Maintenance
If that does not work, reinstall
Always start with a system restore point and
Back up your stuff
You need a valid key to use the CD to reinstall and if things get bonked also to use the repair.
[Direct Download Links] Download Official Windows Vista RTM with SP1 Setup Files (32-bit and 64-bit) - Tweaking with Vishal
If the resinstalltion does not work, you can utilize your built in restoration partition. I prefer the CD installation method, because it is SP1, your restoration is probably not an SP, which means a lot more updates you must install and there will be hundreds.

Good Luck
I am curious, how did hibernate affect your ability to fix this problem?

With Vista all the editions are on the same DVD, just be sure to pick the correct BIT 32 or 64 and then when asked for your key, the correct edition will be installed.
Your product key number is the one that is on the sticker on your computer. It should have 21 letters/numbers and most likely have the letters OEM.
If you have SP1, you can just jump to the last option and try that. You will lose your stuff, so back up. But you can try repair and extract first as it is easier.
After we are all done, remind me to show you how to make sure this never happens again.

Download all 3 to make sure that your burnt DVD can boot.

OK take your time. There is no reason that this should not work, unless you have harware problems, which I doubt.
