Screen Resolution on old Laptop

Hi All,

I have a VERY old Thinkpad (IBM) 500MHz/256MB - Ok ok enough laughing

All of the drivers are installed for the GFX card, it is a "Silicon Motion LynxEM+" GFX adapter. Where you change the resolution, it will allow me to go to 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024 & 1600 x 600 - 800 x 600 works fine, but anything above that, & I have to scroll around to see the start menu etc. Is there anyway of going to a higher resolution and compacting this into the screen without scrolling?

If the monitor doesn't allow you more than 800X600, you cannot have a higher resolution.
Try Everest to check what it says on the monitor capabilities.

I belive that,the resolution also depends on what inch is your screen too.

You mean size?

Not really, we're talking about laptops and some old laptop with a 15" screen size can have a much more lower resolution than a brand new 13".

you could try scaling the image to fit from a higher resolution but i wouldn't know how to do that on your laptop or even if it's possible someone else might know!!
