Shreding Free Space

So I read stuff about shredding up the free space on your disks can help maintain system security.

So do you think it is safe to do on the C:/ drive first of all (Dont want to mess up my system)? Would it also potentially free up some space as well?

By any chance you meant " defragmenting " ?
In layman term, defragmenting is used to improve computer performance by collecting scatttered fragments and group them into one.
Anyway, defrag has absolutely nothing to do with " free space ' nor with " security ".

I believe this is called Secure Deletion and it should not mess up your Computer , But it does depend on what your are Secure Deleting...

System Files etc ... This would Destroy your Operating System but Windows Has measures to Prevent that ,If your Doing the Recycle Bin or A file or folder in your User area then that is fine
