Slow boot up

Can a slow boot up of an Acer Aspire 4710 laptop is caused by a not updated BIOS software? The laptop has a Core 2 duo processor and Windows Vista Home Basic.

Try the clean boot and see what happens.

If you boot normally, the cause is a start up process, which is normally the reason.

I am guessing your anti virus, if it is due to a start up process.

The anti virus is the Microsoft Security Essentials.

I took a guess when I put the blame on the Anti Virus. Try the clean boot and see if you boot properly.

BIOS will not cause a slow boot, maybe in very specific circumstances but more than likely not in this case. It is probably because there are a lot of start-up programs coupled with a few system tweaks that need to be made then you will be on your way.

i really reccommend msconfig tweaks, it is the most effective. and when the boot up is slow, which screen do you get stuck on? (bios screen not common, the windows loading bar screen, or the welcome screen with green circle going around thing?)
