slow internet

so, does anyone have this problem with vista?? my internet connection is REALLY slow! and it shouldn't be.... unless it has something to do with my internet connection, let me know if this is normal for vista... I have heard that vista has a slower connection compared to xp. I have a laptop that is running on windows xp and it's runs great with my internet.

How does the vista machine connect to the internet? Also how does the XP laptop connect to the internet? If the XP laptop is fast on the internet and the Vista machine is not then there could be a fix. Please let me know. Thanks

my desktop w/vista is connected directly to my internet cable, and my xp laptop is connected wirelessly through my wireless router.

Also try going to command prompt and type:

ping www. google .com -t (no spaces between .google.) the press Enter and you should see:

but if your seeing:

timed out
Then I would call your ISP and tell them your having packet loss. They should be able to fix this.
