Solved speradic system freeze up

First and foremost, thank you for hosting this site!!!

My system is locking up about twice a day. No mouse feedback and I cannot "cntrl alt del" to get to the task manager.
The only constant error I see in the event viewer is this:

The description for Event ID 18 from source Ma730Pt cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file

I am not sure is this is the cause of the system freeze up??

I would be extremely grateful for any comments on the mystery issue.

Richard,
Thanks for the reply.
I did a clean boot and still got the same issue noted above.
I ran the antimailware software suggested, found one issue, rebooted and still the same issue above.
I downloaded and ran the speedfan 4.42 software. It seems my nvidia 8800gtx gpu is running hot 54c. This may the the cause of the system freezeup, but probably not the issue above.

Follow all the instructions, if freezes still occur, post and I will be here for you buddy.

Does this Error Occur in Safe mode? This will determine if it is Windows or a Software Installation

If it does Solve your Problem then please perform a Clean boot as suggested in the earlier posts

Hope This Helps,

Check List:
Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
<no yellow warning markers>
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
<no issues>
Run antivirus scan
<check>
Check memory with memtest86
<no issues>
Make sure that you are not over heating.
<don't think i am overheading, gpu is running at 54c, but that sounds normal>
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
<did not get the Ma730Pt error>

Try a clean boot
<cleanbooted still had error noted above>
Make sure PSU is working properly
<not sure how>
If overclocking, restore to original
<not overclocking>
Test hard drive at company website.
<I have recently done an error-check on the HD with no problems>

I think I covered your previously noted steps??

From what I could find, this file may involve a Motorola phone Bluetooth device. Is this device still in use on your system or was it ever installed on or synchronized with your system? If not (or if it was and is no longer being used), I recommend you uninstall the device (and any related software) and see if that resolves the problem. If it is still in use, then I recommend you uninstall the device and then update the drivers and software from the manufacturer's web site (even if Device Manager says everything is OK) and re-install the device to see if that helps resolve the problem. Since this device would probably not load in Safe Mode, it may explain why the problem does not occur in safe mode (though I'm somewhat at a loss to explain why it still occurs with a Clean Boot where I would also expect to not see the problem if it doesn't occur in Safe Mode).

I also suggest you download Autoruns Autoruns for Windows and install and run it. Click on the Everything Tab. Check to see if there are any entries concerning Ma730pt and, if so, uncheck the box to stop them from running at startup. Check the entire list as there may be more than one entry. If you found any, reboot and see if that resolves the problem. If there was nothing, then that's not the issue.

Try running your internet browser (assuming it is IE) with no add-ons and see if that makes any difference:

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode [Applies to IE7 & IE8 in all OSS] http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

I hope this helps. If not, post back and we'll try some other options.

Good luck!

Ok. That was it.
Way back when, I used a cheap software bluetooth interface for older cell phones by MobileAction. I had assumed I uninstalled it. I cannot find that it is actually still installed.
I utilized 'Autoruns for Windows' and It did show that the Ma730 drivers were the issue.
I unchecked and rebooted. No more Error!!!
I am stumped why this was not effected by the clean boot?

Thank you, thank you, Richard, Josh and Lorien!!!

My Computer

Excellent news! It was my pleasure - glad I could help.

I will see to it that this thread is reported as solved.

And welcome to Vista Forums! Now that you know where we are, bookmark the site and post anytime you have further questions or problems or if you just want to browse and learn (especially the Tutorial section offers some excellent advice on a wide variety of topics) or even if you want to try to help answer a question if you happen to see one where you know the answer and it hasn't already been posted. While it most likely won't be us the next time (though it might), there are many very skilled, experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly people here who, like us, volunteer their time to help others and one or maybe even several will respond to your post to assist you. While there are other forums on the web that do this sort of thing, you've now found what I think is the best (and I've posted in and/or checked out quite a few) so don't lose this link - you never know when it might come in handy again.

Good luck and best wishes.
