Startup repair

Well i have this computer which is a Dell Latitude E6400 that has been working fine for 3years. So today when i opened up my computer it said that windows failed to start. It said for me to insert my windows installation disc and restart my computer. Then it said choose your language settings and click next then click repair your computer. I did just that and then it opened up startup repair, after awhile it said startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. So now i dont know what to do.
Ive tried reinstalling the whole comp but that doesnt work for some reason.
Please help me.

i have a few problems
first as i said before my computer is a dell. I only got the dell vista installation disc. Its not the actual vista installation disc. Which means i dont have the product key thing in step 5, the latest updates thing in step 3. Since i cant get on my computer step 10 doesnt work. so steps 3-10 i cant actually do. Because of that the whole site doesnt help me.
Please i need more help

Hello Ok can we start fresh.. I need a little more information about your system.

1. Manufacture is Dell
2. Model number...
3. We know it is at least 3 years old
4. Do you remember what you were doing when you desided enough for today and will pick it up again in the AM.
5. Laptop or desktop

Can you get into any part of the system, if not what does the screen look like, is it a balck screen with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner. So please let us know what the screen looks like and if it is doing anything.
