Stuck on Password Screen

I have a Toshiba Satelite A350 which on startup gives the Toshiba logo screen, then goes straight to a black screen with a blue box requesting a password, which it has never done before. It will not accept my administrator password.
I've tried pressing / holding F8, but this only delays the password screen appearing till the button is released.
Vista Home Premium came ready loaded with the machine so don't have a disc to reload this.
Any ideas?

UPDATE! I have tried the continually pressing of F8, but was still getting the password screen.
Have now tried the bios wipe jumper that Patonb suggests below, but now all I get is a blank screen with no cursor. The system seems to be trying to do something, ie. it doesn't go into sleep / powersave, but I gave up waiting after 2 hours.
HELP!

Welcome
Do you have stuff you want to save?
If you do not, this will get you back to the way the computer was the day you bought it.

1. Boot the computer.

2. Repeatedly tap the F8 key until you see the Advanced Boot Option Screen.

3. Select Repair Your Computerand hit Enter.

4. Select your country >> OK.

5. On the System Recovery Options Screen select Restore Application.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

8. When prompted, select on "Full Factory Recovery"

9. Select Next >> Yes.

10. After a couple of minutes the recovery will be completed.

Credit to Geek Police for the instructions.

Hitting F8 doesn't get you to the boot options?

Does the POST information come up before the Toshiba logo screen?

Can you get into the BIOS?

It sounds as if it has a bios password, and it isn't making it to the beginnings of Windows to even ue f8.

To test, get any bootable cd, even memtest should work, and see if it'll boot that.

My next question is: Who has acces to your system recently?

Well, luckily It seems theres a bios wipe jumper:
