Hello,

Iv had my PC for around 4-5 years now and everything has always worked perfectly with windows home basic 32Bit, however yesterday i went to boot my PC up and it seemed to get to the stage where windows attemps to load up and it stayed on the same stage for 10mins or so, so i reset the PC and it came to a page saying something to do with look for problems and one saying cancel, I have tried the system repair a number of times but nothing seems to be happening :S Ive heard that a way of getting around the problem is to use the vista installation disc, is this correct ? and if anyone else knows anything else to solve the problem, could you please share so I can get back to running the PC as normal,

Kind Regards

Installing and reinstalling Windows - Windows Vista Help

Use the Wds installation cd that came with your pc so that you have all the original drivers .

then go to the factory site for all update.

"Remember ...it will wipe out everthing ....and put it back to the factory condition"

To reinstall Windows Vista

If you want to reinstall Windows Vista by performing a clean installation—possibly to restore the default Windows settings—here's how to do it. (If you're having a problem with Windows, first see What to do if Windows won't start correctly, which explains how to use the Windows installation disc to fix problems without completely reinstalling Windows.)

Back up your files before you begin reinstalling Windows, even if you're reinstalling Windows on a hard disk partition. A clean installation replaces the current version of Windows and all personal files.

1. Turn on your computer and insert the Windows Vista DVD or CD.
2. On the Install Windows page, follow any instructions that might appear, and then click Install now.
3. On the Get important updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get installation updates.
4. On the Type your product key for activation page, we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key to help avoid problems during activation.
5. On the Please read the license terms page, if you accept the license terms, click I accept the license terms.
6. Follow the instructions on each page. On the Which type of installation do you want? page, click Custom.
7. On the Where do you want to install Windows? page, select the partition where you want to install Windows.
8. Click Next to begin the installation. You might see a compatibility report.
9. Follow the instructions.

Are you sure this is the only way to fx the problem,

Iv kept trying to work my way through it, and i got to the stage where it said windows searching for problem, and It came up saying windows cannot repair this computer automatically, i clicked on the part that says not to send the information to windows and then clicked on the advanced settings, the language as United Kingdom and it brought up the section with the administartor and password, i put them in and then reset the pc, i waited for 5 mins whilst windows loaded and it came on to my surprise :S everythings seems to be working fine, apart from it cant load it up initially, however everythings fine as i have it open now :S

Hello Jet2Chris,
Now you have it running, it may be worth running File Checker, just to confirm all the files are in order.
Here is a couple of links to help.
