I couldn't reply because this thread is in the archived section... but I wanted to sign up just to thank these folks for a solution to a nagging problem.
Although it is a "Vista" solution, it fixed the problem I was having in Win7 and I found it here.

This was becoming critical, and by ways of the solution described I was able to correct the problem (fixing a registry key)

Me too, I found my solution from a 2007 thread with Dominic giving answer to someone but it solve my problem for now. Removing 1 stick of 2GB RAM got me boot up again. I now got to figure out what to do to make this laptop running closer to 100%.

So, thanks for now and will search for more info to fix whatever else that ail my machine.
