That's a difficult question in regards to video editing. It depends on the software. In my opinion, you should buy a 64 bit system so that you can actually use more than 4 Gb of RAM if you need it. For Video Editing, I would suggest 4 Gb or more. The CPU should be duo core or higher with a absolute minimim of 2 GHz or higher clock speed (the higher the better). You should get a discrete graphics card with at least 256 Mb of memory that supports the latest Directx 9. Some software may require Directx 10 or 11. Depending on the system specs, integrated graphics may work but a discrete card is highly recommended. I think you can exceed the above suggestions easily at a modest price.

If you meet the above suggestions, everything else you want to do should be no problem.

Unfortunately. not all software will. but.. on the overall issue of 64 bit versus a 32 bit.. 64 is the way to go .

You don't say whether you are after a desktop or laptop machine, but if you
are thinking laptop, have a look at my System Specs.

It will easily do all that you require, and more.....

As for software, not all 32-bit stuff will work on 64-bit, but most will.

And if some particular program doesn't work, there's almost always
an alternative that will, so it's not really a big issue.

    Borderline pathetic.
Most 32 bit software will run on a 64 bit system in emulation mode. You can also set the compattibility mode for software.
