Trouble installing printer driver - HP 1010

I am having problems installing the Vista driver for the HP 1010 Laserjet printer.

I have Vista 32bit OS and downloaded what I believe is the correct driver:
HP LaserJet 1010 Printer series -  Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

However when I try to extract it, I am told there isn't enough storage. The hard drive is 75GB total which is pretty small, but it still had around 30GB free.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

The downloaded driver file is only 14.2MB in size & 14.5 when unzipped!

So, I am not sure what has filled your space? Please download, update & run a virus scan with this software: -

Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download

Then download a new copy of the driver.

Hmmm I just tried extracting it on my laptop with 137GB free and the same thing happened. :huh:

I would suggest that you

Test Hard Drive

Hard drive scan usings SeaTools - SeaToolsfor Windows | Seagate - Both long and shorttests

Is is likely to be the hard drive now that it's been tested on 2 different ones?

If it has been tested by a reliable source, I would think that is not the problem. Try to download the driver to your desktop and then try to install from there.

It appears I got a little confused...

The original 'lj1010serieshb-vista32' zip file I CAN open.

When I then click on any one of the different cabinet files inside that I get a folder with:

unidrv help file
unires.dll
unidrvui.dll

The two .dll files, so I just need to move them into the windows system 32 folder or something? It doesn't seem like they have a program that installs them automatically. Sorry.

If you have a CD with the printer use that.
If you have no CD, just try tp plug in the printer to the port. Turn on Automatic update and boot. Lets see if it works.
