Hi, SIster in laws laptop Advent 5421 , OS Vista Home Basic 32 bit system pack 1.
Problem running very slow, asked if i could do anything to help, i carried out the following in this order.
1. Ran CCleaner
2. Ran Malwarebytes.
3. Ran Spybot Search and Destroy.
4. Defraged registry
5. Downloaded and installed service pack 2 for Vista 32 bit from Microsoft website.
6. Downloaded and installed IE9 and Chrome.
Result laptop runs a lot faster, but have noticed strange function on touchpad, as follows.
When i left double click on a desktop icon nothing happens other than the surrounding area of the icon goes lighter as normal but will not open the page.
However if i double right click, and left click on the open option the page will open and the left click function will operate as normal untill i log off the internet.
If i single left click the same icon from either the start menu or quick launch bar everything works as normal.
I thought it might be the driver, the ony information I can find is that it is an Alps Touch pad driver.
I have tried to get some information from Advents website ,but with no luck.
If there is anyone who can shed any light on this problem it would be a great help.
Regards Dominic.
p.s Forgot to mention that the same occurs when I plug in a wireless mouse.
