My PC has not booted up for the last couple of days and I can't find any way to move forward (other than taking the PC to an engineer). When I start it up, it goes through the screen that lists the drives and at the point that the OS normally starts up, the pc restarts - it continues to do this until I switch off. I have managed to get on to a diagnostics utility that took 10 hours to complete and which said all was ok. I also got onto the windows boot manager that has a memory diagnostic tool, but that only showed that file \boot\memtest.exe was missing or corrupt. It also advises to insert the Vista intall disc to try to repair, but I don't have one (pre-installed by Dell). I want to do a reset but need the OS to do that as the recovery files are on a partition(I also have a couple of files that I need to capture before I reset). Any pointers?
