Solved Unable to update

I have not been able to update, received a error code 80070002, I've run spybot, adware, malwarbyte and Norton to check for problems. Also ran system readiness Tool and went in and deleted Data Store folder and Software Distribution folder. :(

Went to Windows and completed their suggestions ran Mr. Fix It for upload problems and it found three problems but said it could not fix the upload problem. It did not elaborate what the problem is. Also ran defragmentation program on all drives. :(

Also during start up a message "configuring updates Stage 1 of 3 0% complete" never completes its process. So something hangs up and I've gone in and deleted the last upload but the process still does not work.

I logged on as administrator and tried to run sfc.scannow and the system will not process it says that "There is a system repair pending which requires a reboot" I've reboot several times and there is no system that is visible. I checked my Utilities product and I did not schedule a repair. Any idea how I can search for this invisible repair that is supposed to happen but doesn't.

Please try this. Note that if you can boot into windows then you don't need a recovery disk. You will probably need an elevated command prompt as done with an sfc scan. After this try the sfc scan again. Lexington Computer Repair Blog » SOLVED: SFC says

I'm looking into upgrading into Windows 7 Ultimate and I looked at upgrade advisor and it says that my laptop is compatible. If I upload to this other OS will I lose my present programs such as MS Office?

You can install 7 in 2 ways
The first way is called an upgrade. You can only upgrade 32 bit to 32 bit and 64 bit to 64 bit.
You will not lose your stuff.
The better way is called a clean install. You format and install from scratch. You will lose your stuff, but this is the best way. If you upgrade, you bring all the old problems with you. For example, Virus etc, may still be there.
You have to do this only once, ...Clean Install.

OK I think I figure out why I can't run /sfc /SCANNOW

I'm getting the following message now.

"Also during start up a message "configuring updates Stage 3 of 3 0% complete" never completes its process. So something hangs up and I've gone in and deleted the last upload but the process still does not work. "

So before I run update could you tell how to delete the upload program that is not completing so I can run sfc.

If you have a disc, and a valid key. Boot from the DVD for a clean install
Boot from the OS, then place the cd in the computer for an upgrade.
Personally, I did a clean install. As I needed particular software, In installed it then. For some software you will need a valid key, such as for Word, Excel, etc.
This is how you do the upgrade install, called a repair install in this Tutorial
Repair Install - Windows 7 Help Forums
With computers as in life, if it can go wrong it will. To protect yourself, download the free macrium reflect. Make an image of what you have and put in on an external drive. If things go bad, before you put your key number in, you can always go back to what you had
Do not put in the key when asked, do it within 30 days, after you are happy with the install.
