Solved Uninstall ATI software issues

I am trying to update my video drivers and am unable to get the ATI uninstall utility to work. When I click it in Programs and Features. I get the option to uninstall all ATI software (recommended) or all plus chipset software. I choose first option - a box of technical stuff comes up with an OK button and then the box to reboot to effect changes. But when I reboot nothing has changed. (ATI Radeon HD4800 series.) Vista up to date with all SPs.

Welcome

Go to search and type device manager, see if it can be done from there.

Thanks Richard - it looks like I can do that, but before I do can I ask if that is a "clean" uninstall that will let me install and get the Catalyst centre to work. I seem to remember hearing there were problems if any bits of ATI stuff were left behind.

I would try to download and use ccleaner, it should pick up any of the left over remnants.
You may also want to use driver sweeper, it is made just for this purpose. Use it first then ccleaner

You may want to try and see if revo uninstaller can remove it. This is software that is known for its thorough job. It is free for 32 bit and 30 day trial for 64 bit

Make a system restore point, before doing anything. In this way if you experience any sort of problem, you can go back to the way things were when you made the restore point.
Good Luck

Thanks that helped - I used Revo. I'll need to go to the graphics card forum as the Cataylyst center no longer shows the bit where I can clock the card up.
