upgrading to windows 7 help

i am currently running vista home basic 32 bit and want to upgrade to 7 home premium 32 bit, i ran the compatability tests, all clear, so i go to upgrade. first problem you need to uninstall adobe reader 7, which i do not understand as i have the latest update at time of writing. (adobe reader 10) which i ignored and carried on since i couldnt find it in my control panel program uninstaller. then my second problem the upgrade get stuck at the gathering system files 0%
could someone please help?

Forget what you read about uninstalling etc. That is for an upgrade. You must do a clean install with an upgrade DVD for the best results. You format and then reinstall what you need. You must back up first. You can use Windows Easy Transfer to trasfer all of your pics, settings, documents etc.

Yes, a bit more work now, but many less problems later. Dont do an upgrade, do the clean install.

If you do an upgrade, all the problems, virus and other bad stuff becomes part of the upgrade. Do the clean install. The only difference is that you must reinstall your software. With easy trasfer everything else that you transfer is easy (setting, favorites. desktop, etc).
Do you want a NEW CAR or the old car cleaned, polished and tunedup. Its the same thing with an upgrade

yeah i downloaded and ran that on monday, it said my laptop can handle 7. tbh this thing hasnt been co-operative ever. but i shall try the disconnected update again now, thanks, plus i wont be able to reply later so i shall get back to you on how it went later in the week actually forget the upgrade i shall just do the full system wipe and put 7 on this weekend gonna be simpler

I would follow the tutorial that I gave you above. You must have your DVDs and key numbers to reinstall programs such as Microsoft Office and games, etc.
