USB Problem

Hello Vista pro's, I purchased a t-flash usb pen drive with a Micro SD 4gb card inside.

Ive used it before on my hp 550 laptop for various reasons without a problem, i recently plugged it into my xbox 360 and had to format it to work on xbox, which it didnt.

Now when i plug it into my laptop NOTHING happens, it used to have a red light on but it never worked and froze the system until i unplugged it, then as of today i got the "USB not recognised" message and from then NOTHING.

I would greatly appreciate any help cry:

Hi,

The Xbox uses a different format to Windows. You need to re-format it on your computer for use.

Please note: - All data will be lost again!

How would i go about re formatting it if the laptop does not recognise it?

Hello Dava811, Welcome to the forum.

After plugging in the device. Go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.

Try connecting the device again. Apart this link may help you to fix the USB problem.

Hello Arvin and thanks for the reply, firstly tho when i try your first step the pen drive does not show up in the device management and secondly i have the same problem with the other people on the link u gave me.

(“InstallDriver Table Manager” is not found.)

Thanks for your help tho, Im pretty sure Lottiemansion hit the nail on the head im just not sure how to format the usb to work with windows... Any suggestions?

If your USB devices doesn't detect ,this could be due to wrong registry entries. i.e you need to delete UpperFilters and the LowerFilters registry values.

Follow the procedure listed below to correct your registry:

1. Open Start > Run, and type "regedit" (without double quotes), and click OK.

2. Locate UpperFilters registry value. it resides in the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E980-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

3. Click on Edit menu, and select Delete and click OK.
Note: If you receive an error when you try to delete the registry subkey, you may not have correct permissions to edit the subkey.

4. Locate LowerFilters registry value. It resides in the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

5. Click on Edit menu, and select Delete and click OK.

6. Exit Registry Editor and restart your system.

Try this and post your result.

Hi,

Right click on my computer icon & manage.

Then select Disk management. You should then see a drive with no letter against it (See picture).

Format that drive & allocate a drive letter to it. You should then be good to go. OK?
