Vista Calendar unable to create new appointment

Went to create a new appointment from within Vista Calendar and "New Appointment" is greyed out.

Problem seems to be when trying to create a new appointment from a previously created calendar.

Deleting the previously created calendar "new appointment" becomes available from the main or new calendar.

Is the problematic calendar read-only?

No, it has worked ok as long a previously created calendar was deleted, working from the default calendar.

I probably need to find a help file that explains in detail, creating a new calendar or calendar group. Calendar help doesn't go into any detail of creating a calendar or group.

Customize Windows Calendar

To create a calendar

• Click the File menu, and then click New Calendar.
• In the New Calendar box, type the name you want for the calendar, and then press ENTER.
• To choose the color of your appointments, in the Details pane, click Color, and then click the color you want.
