Vista green bar

Hi, I can't seem to reduce the time it takes the vista startup bar to complete. I have compared this to other laptops with vista and normally they take 6-10 movements across. Mine can take 30-40. To try and rectify this I have installed System Mechanic 10 which has improved the overall performance of the laptop but not the startup time. After I have logged into my desktop everything is fine - screen access and internet speed. I have reduced the amount of startup programs to a minimum. I did read that when the vista bar is loading this is the point vista loads drivers but I am not sure
