vista wont boot

Hi im new and not very computer smart so please forgive my lack of knowledge. Ive recently restored my vista pre-installed hp to factory settings. Everything has worked fine for about a week. Then this mourning after I booted up and logged in it takes me straight to a screen where it says something like Windows Vista is no longer functional please upgrade to Windows 7 for 109.99 ??? Has anyone else had this problem??? It wont let me go anywhere else. It just says to buy windows 7 and the disk will be mailed to me.

There is nothing like that from Microsoft, sounds like malware. Can you function in safe mode. If so download malwarebytes and run a full updated scan.

I've never heard of this before (I may be wrong) so I'm going to treat it as malware, I still use Vista with no problem at all.

Can you boot into safe mode?
