what to do after installing win XP

i hope i can post it here, you helped me before and i cant find an official XP forum.


so i installed xp on this computer, and i need help with some issues.

1.the programs that used to come up when comp started dont anymore, how can i make the programs come up again?
2. is it safe to delete vista now? will all my files remain safe on my hard disk?

Assuming XP is similar to Vista in this regard.
Go to msconfig, start up tab
In msconfig, check the programs that you want to be part of startup

As far as deleting Vista, you need to know what programs if any are included on the same drive as Vista.

You may want to download an use spacesniffer, to see what is on the various drives.

do you say that vista's drive will be wiped out if i want to delete vista?

This article will describe the way to remove an OS, it is what I would do. If done this way the entre drive will be formatted.

Honestly if you put XP on a computer that had Vista, you probably already lost all files/programs that were on the vista. Asnd you can't just run a program installed under vista in XP.

Unless you put it on a seperate disk/partion, XP would have wrote over the vista files.

To get all the programs back, you need to reinstall them. Along with all the drivers that run your computer.

Just installing XP is not nearly enough, you still hAVE alot more to put in.
