Windows Mail & Outlook.com POP mail

Hello,

I have an Outlook.com e-mail account. I believe Outlook.com is a replacement to Microsoft's Hotmail.

I'm able to create a IMAP outllook.com account in Windows Mail to download messages.

However I would also like to be able to download Outllook.com mail via POP.

I've tried the various settings as suggested in Outlook Help but keep receiving errors while attempting to download POP mail from my outlook.com account. An IMAP outlook.com account from Windows Mail works ok.

I've enabled POP and IMAP from Outlook.com under Settings > POP & IMAP

I've tried various security settings and ports but keep getting error messages while trying to download via POP.

I've tried checking and unchecking

* SSL for incoming and outgoing ports
* Login Using Secure Password Authentication
* My Server Requires Authentication (If this option is selected I receive a pop message to enter credentials. Entering credential still produces error messages)

Error messages differ a little depending on security options selected.

1. Account: 'MS Outlook.com POP Mail', Server: 'pop-mail.outlook.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '.', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

2. Account: 'MS Outlook.com POP Mail', Server: 'pop-mail.outlook.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Windows Mail under Vista only has SSL option for the ports.

Settings for Outlook.com - Apps that support POP and IMAP

POP server name pop-mail.outlook.com
POP port 995 (or 993)
POP encryption method SSL
SMTP server name smtp-mail.outlook.com
SMTP port 587 (other port?)
SMTP encryption method TLS

SMTP port 587 - STARTTLS
POP port 995 - TLS

Add your Outlook.com account to another mail app - Outlook
