can someone help, why cant i open accounts in windows mail to change settings?

If you cant open it how did you enter the accounts in the first place?

Assuming you do have an account, do the following:

In Windows Mail:

1. Click "Tools"
2. Click "Accounts"
3. Highlight the account
4. Click "Properties"

Now change whatever you need to change.

i do have an account, it used to open now it wont ,everything is working fine but i need to open another account

If windows mail is corrupted and cannot work, you can uninstall it and then install a new one.

You can uninstall from the control panel,>programs>windows live essentials.

Always make a system restore point, first.

Did you try brining up the email client>tools>accounts>add?

thanks 4 all the info , but i installed live mail works good and now i can get into accounts and change some settings

can windows mail be deleted or is that not wise, as it still works fine just cant get into accounts.

You can delete it, but make a system restore point first. Since your computer is working the way you want, in lieu of deleting you can go to the search box and type in default. In default you should see a choice to make either mail service the default. If you pick Windows Live Mail to be default, you will not be bothered by the other.

how do i find out what is the name of the incoming mail server?
or What is the name of the SMTP server?

You can get any information from the website of your ISP or email service (if you are not using your ISP mail service).

If you have trouble finding it, give me the name and tomorrow, I will get it for you.

Go to the website of your college, there should be insturctions on how to configure the email client. If you cannot find it let me know and I will search.

This is information from your school website. College in Pasadena, nice. I went to school in NYC, not nice.

Student E-mail - Pasadena City College

It appears the the college does not provide a way to send using WLM, only receive.

If you want to send and receive, you can use the same email service that I do. GMX.com. It is very good.

I do not think that they offer POP3 (the requirement for using Windows Live Mail).

You may want to discuss the matter, further, with the appropriate people at the college.
