Hi, Rich whilst I was awaiting for a reply I googled around and Microsoft website said to install 4.5 version and that so far seems to be working fine.....If it suddenly stops working then I will try your suggestions...Thanks anyway :)

Hello!

Finally we meet!

That hard disk doesn't look too happy. Look at how that error code maps:

Code:
C:\Users\Richard>err C80003FE
# for hex 0xc80003fe / decimal -939523074 :
  hrDiskIO ntdsbmsg.h
# A disk I/O error occurred.
# 1 matches found for "C80003FE"

C:\Users\Richard>

That can be caused by a bad hard disk, or bad data, almost always on a bad hard disk.

For a proper hard disk test, run the SMART check, and Short and Long Self Test (DST) on your hard disk using this tool: | Seagate

Richard

Hi Richard, sorry took a while to reply....No it wasn't a happy hard drive..I ended up putting in another hard drive and reinstalling windows vista from a friends disc ...so far so good....just hope my son doesn't ruin this one.....kids ehh ...they think we are made of money.....I have bought him a stand for the air circulation to get around so hard drive does not get overheated...I recon that is what happened going from the chair he always sat it on next to his bed :)
