Vista's SP2

Announcing the Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 RC - Windows Vista Team Blog - The Windows Blog

This week we are announcing that Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 has hit an important milestone in development: Release Candidate (RC).

Starting today, the RC of SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 will be available to TechNet and MSDN subscribers to test prior to final release. In the very near future, we will be making the RC broadly available for anyone to download and test. You can expect another blog post from me when that happens.

SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 include updates that have been delivered since the release of SP1, as well as support for new types of hardware and emerging standards. As we’ve described since we first talked about SP2, we’ve taken your feedback into account when developing SP2. Specifically, we expect SP2 to continue the security benefits of both products and simplify deployment for our customers.

We are planning to release SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 in the second quarter of 2009.

Have you seen exactly what this SP will do for vista, or is it just a compiled list of updates like its predecessor?

It certainly will be good if SP2 did come out.Hopefully Ms are actually working on making vista a very stable OS.
I've heard of all sorts of people who refuse to use Vista and just stick with XP.I would rather have vista than XP, because if you want to stay up to date you must have a good looking OS.Windows Xp just looks kinda old now. I wonder why Ms have been so quick with bringing out W7??? It must be because "windows 7 is what Vista wasn't.":D:D:D.

yes lots who refuse to use vista... vista is alot better then xp... i just upgraded to ultimate and now there is a new windows?lol

anyway back on topic with sp2.. i think i will wait for a month or so until after released to install. my ultimate has sp1 in it but to be sure i dont get any bugs and definatly no beta versions. is there a relase date for it?

microsoft are saying early 2010 but no specific date until its met the RTM standard.

sorry i thought you meant windows 7, lol, the service pack will be out very soon, as microsoft always do, they never really announce the dates for service packs and leave you to guess work, apparently the service pack will be released in the second quarter of 2009, very very soon.

ah windows 7 would be nice but iv eonly just upgraded to ultimate i think ill stick with ultinmate for the next few years..

I'm waiting until the final before installing, my Vista machine came with SP1 already installed so I'm hoping that I don't have any problems when SP2 is ready, although it should be OK by the time Windows Update tells me my machine is ready for it. ;)
