Troublesome alert window

Assuming it is not a virus, you have remnants of Mcafee on your computer. Use the uninstall tool again to clean it all up
Start with a system restore point, first, in case of problems.
How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee products using the Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR)
If that does not work, we will clear your temporary folder.
Go to search by the shutdown button.
Click on run (right hand corner)
in run type %temp%
Then OK

I don't think this link is going to help me. I did use the uninstall tool, and followed McAfee's instructions, when I uninstalled their factory loaded virus program from my computer a very long time ago. Somehow, it must have left something. But when you go to my Programs and Features there is nothing related to McAfee except Site Advisor.

A long time ago I even downloaded the uninstall tool and ran it again.

The only thing I have in my Program Files folder that relates to McAfee is Site Advisor.

I checked in Services and there is an entry there for McAfee Application Uninstaller. It was set to auto. I changed it from auto to manual. Maybe that will stop the pop up.

I guess I'm just stuck with this. It's been popping up for a long time, but it will be silent for a while and then it will start again.

Experiment, my friend, get rid of site advisor and see what happens.
Try the %temp% see what happens.
Go to search type Mcafee, make sure all references are gone.
