Got "Acer - Display - GR276HL" as an optional update. Tried to link to "more information" but was met with a sign-in requirement. Anyone know what this update is about? Seems unusual.

I have an optional update named "Acer - Display - GR276HL." It's described as "Acer Display software update."

Under "More Information" I'm sent here: http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20474863 which directs me to here: https://sysdev.microsoft.com/ but I can't get there because I need to log in with a Windows Live ID which I don't remember and the system for retrieval is problematic.

That's all the information I have.

I searched google and it seems that Windows Update may be giving me an optional update that is not suitable for my system as I have no Acer hardware.

Hi,

Looking at the "Offer", I would hide the update & move on.

Afterall, if you do not have any applicable hardware then it is not supposed to be offering it as an update. Windows update appears to be getting the hardware mixed up! OK?

I had the same optional update offer today as reported by the original post. I also followed the link as my computer is from Asus, not Acer. The only thing I can think up is that I connected by computer briefly to an Acer display some time ago.

Hi,i got this windows update from Ms,i have a DGM monitor L2442wd and couldn`t access resolutions above 1600x1200 because of windows plug and play settings :(
I have looked everywhere including the DGM website for drivers to update my monitor,so i could run my monitor at 1920x1200 as it was quite capable with my gtx460 Gcard.
I let windows update install GR276Hl driver and now i have full 1920x1200 resolution and all the bells and whistles work in games and desktop.
Thought i could shed some light on why maybe you where getting the driver as a windows update? Do you have a DGM monitor?
Any how take care all BB.
