Unistall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

I may have missed this when I searched but I can't uninstall IE8 beta 2 from my computer I get an error pictured below. I am running windows with an admin account.



I have no system restore cause its disabled.

Download and reinstall IE8 Beta 2 again, then see if you can uninstall it afterwards successfully. It may have gotten corrupted and a reinstall may fix the uninstaller.

Just tried it and it says previous build of IE8 already installed and I must remove it before installing the latest version.

If it hasn't uninstalled at all , Revo will be probably do it for you - it's free and only for 32bit (which I see you have )

Nope SIW2 don't see it listed.

Hunter mode might do it - take it you have another browser installed eg FF to use

Revo Uninstaller - Uninstall or remove programs with Hunter Mode

- just tried it on Windows photo gallery - doesn't seem to recognise that , but does recognise WLM - IE8 ?- don't know as I don't have it now - worth a try.

Is the IE8 beta 2 still listed in the Uninstall an update area?

Yes it is Shawn that's where I'm trying to uninstall from.

You might try uninstalling it from within Safe Mode instead. There may be something still running that is preventing it from uninstalling properly.

Ok I'll give that a try later Shawn I'll keep you posted.

Alternative steps for Windows Vista or for Windows Server 2008
To uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 in Windows Vista or in Windows Server 2008, follow these steps:

1. Carefully select and then copy the following command:

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-8*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

2. Click Start, and then type cmd.exe in the Start Search box.

3. In the list of programs, right-click Cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

4. Right-click inside the Administrator: Command Prompt window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1.

5. Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

Verify that your earlier version of Internet Explorer was restored.

Hey SIW2 I did what you said to copy and paste into cmd didn't work but I could finally uninstall it through the update so I'm back to IE7 now.

Glad you got it sorted - maybe the cmd did something that enabled the uninstall thru updates. Who knows, anyhow - back to normal.

I had a few weird things going on when I tried IE8 so system restored to cure it.
