Windows Mail slow for sending

When I send a message now, it takes forever to be connected, then connecting and to be sent. If I dare put an attachment, my server times out. I checked with my IPP and he says the problem is not at his end as we sent a message from his office with my laptop and it went out fast as it used to.
Advice?
My antivirus program is Microsoft Security Essentials. I turned it off and it did not make any difference.
Thank you for help, it is rather distressing.

That is the place where you work ? Yes ?
That is the place where you setup your e-mail account using the ISP or mail server used in the work place ? Yes ?

1- I work out of my home and went to the ISP office with my laptop. Sending an e-mail was not a problem at the ISP office. And Yes to the second part of the question
2- The problems are at home. By going to the ISP office, we eliminated the server as the cause. It is now either the computer or the program. The thing to note is that it happened over the last 2 weeks. Sending became very slow but I lived with it. Now I find it unbearable.

Thank you for your reply regarding Acer home site.
Indeed, there is a few drivers.

I should have made myself more clear, that I was specifically thinking of your wireless/Lan drivers associated with your present problem.

That new updates may indeed be available, and therefore one is able to discount out of date drivers/software as a cause.

Hi:

Indeed on April 15, there were more than 12 updates which were all installed successfully. They mostly dealt with security and new virus definitions.
It seems that my system "scans" my outgoing messages and this is what takes so long. I can't find in Microsoft Security Essentials anything that allows me to see if it, indeed, scans outgoing messages.

Thank you for your help.

MSE does not have e-mail scanning application in its program.

Do you have another security program installed besides MSE ?

Hi,
Thank you for updating us on your progress.
As regards MSE & scanning of mails, please find further information in these links:-
Is my outgoing and incoming email checked for viruses and spyware bij - Microsoft Answers
I just have a simple question: Does MSE scan incoming or outgoing - Microsoft Answers
Do you have other system scanners that are likely to check mails?
Hope this will help
Thank you.

Did your ISP come with it's own 'Security' package?

If, and only if, after exhusted all suggestions, and matter still unresolved, consider the followings :

1. You e-mail account might have been corrupted.
Open your mail client > remove your e-mail account > re-enter your e-mail account and settings > still having the same problem ?

2. Your user account may be corrupted.
Create another user account with exactly the same account type > logon to the new user account > create an e-mail account > test the e-mail account. Does it have the same problem ?

My Computer

I realize that my last post seemed to have dissolved in ctberspace. I checked that many updates had been downloaded previous to the change in my e-mail sending, mostly Microsoft Security Essentials virus definition.
My problem remain unsolved.
Hoping somebody can help.
