AMD or Intel?

Is there any advantage to using one or the other? Does one work better on Linux?

I'm making a cheap computer to run Smoothwall and just wanted to see.

Re: AMD or Intel?

Hello Simfan,

AMD was good as the gaming CPU once, right now the Intel is the way to go. Intel outperforms AMD and at the same time saves energy. In games the more important is good graphic card. Take decent card from Nvidia or ATI.

Re: AMD or Intel?

If your just running smoothwall then all you want is the cheapest chip you can find, forget about whats better, for smoothwall it would make no difference.

Re: AMD or Intel?

They are both the same price. I was just wondering if there was an advantage.

x2. In all reality, find an old Pentium III to run smoothwall. As long as the computer turns on, it will run it just as well as anything else.

Correct, most of them are not competent enough to be crooks, or make a good cpu for that matter.
