Recurring BSOD every error code is different

I have a Dell 1420, running Vista 32 bit Home Premium and am at my wits end. For the past 4 months I keep getting a BSOD, I've run diagnostics and virus scans , up the wazoo and everything comes back clean. I've reloaded Vista, and it still occurs, I've run the Vista repair utilities, all to no avail. I have gotten a plethora of error codes with BSOD, uninstalled every driver and reinstalled to see if one of them was causing the problem, and nothing seems to work.

When restarting from the BSOD, sometimes it boots right back up with no problems, other times I get a blinking black cursor. Sometimes I can run for days without an issues, other times I blue screen every five minutes.

I have uploaded a few of the minidmp files, hopefully someone out there has a suggestion I havent tried yet.

I checked quickly and just about every code is different. Usually that means hardware. I will give you a test for your Hard Drive and Memory.

http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html

http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Guide-to-using-Memtest86-t246994.html
Run for 6 passes each ram stick separate.

If these two tests turn up negative. Post and we will check your drivers. As there is an indication that this may be the problem. The first two tests are the easiest, so do them first then the driver test if needed.

OK, So I ran the hd test and the memory test, and passed them all. So looks like testing my drivers is the next thing...

Yes I did, but on different machines (was trying to cut down the time, and my daughters happens to use the same RAM. so i removed her sticks and put one of mine in hers and tested it there while I tested the other on this machine). Is that ok? I didnt think it would skew the results.

We have to test the sockets of your compter, too. Take a good ram and test in each socket. If passes, we go to drivers.

Hello Richard, I tested a good stick in each of the sockets and it passed.

Uninstall Avast and use Microsoft Security Essentials instead. Use in conjunction with malwarebytes and windows firewall. In two cases the suspected cause was Avast.

STOP 0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Usual causes: Device driver

STOP 0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Usual causes: Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility

STOP 0x000000C2: BAD_POOL_CALLER
Usual causes: Device driver, ?Memory

STOP 0x0000001A: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel

These are the results of your 5 dumps. "A" appeared twice, showing that Avast was the cause. If it does not work with Avast uninstalled. Seems that only drivers are left. However, when there are different causes for dumps, it usually points toward hardware.

Are you using Mcafee and Avast? That is a problem right there. Uninstall all antivirus and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Make sure you check prior posts. I have made additions.

I was using Avast, which I just uninstalled and am now downloading Microsoft Security Essentials. I haven't used Mcafee in over a year, and it has been uninstalled since then.

To update my old drivers, I assume I can do that in Device Manager, and clicking update driver for each one?

And I haven't had one BSOD since I posted about the issue, irony.

Drivers from Mcafee still show.

Its best to go right to the website and update drivers. Since you have so many, best to use the Driver Verifier to find the problem. Then at your own lesisure you can begin to update drivers.

No BSOD for a while, well just use the computer and if it happens again, we can continue the work. It might have been the anti virus.

I'll make sure I delete the remaining Mcafee drivers.

I should wait then to use the driver verifier, unless I BSOD again? I'm fairly certian thats what you meant, but wanted to clarify.

Is it ok to update some drivers in the meantime?

I downloaded and ran the MCPR tool for Mcafee, and it seems to have removed the leftover drivers

BSOD or not, the old drivers should be updated.

Wait for the Verifier test, to be honest its a pain, but if we must, we must.

One reason for BSOD can be conflict in anti virus. And one of the Bug Reports indicated antivirus. I think we are making good headway.

You are very welcome. I hope that after helping, I see a big smiley with the words its fixed.

Well, last night I played DD online for about six hours, worked with my music production software for a few, surfed a bit.....and NOT ONE BSOD. Normally, I would have given up on the game, used the two track recorder duct taped to the bell of my sax, and googled on my phone....all a pain in the arse, but normally the BSOD's get the best of me.

It seems as though, Richard my dear, it is fixed :D
