BSODs with new monitor - With .dmp file

Hi,

I have a problem which many others seem to be having with Vista. Apologies for the long thread, but just wanted to provide all of the information as I was up till 5am trying to solve this and getting a bit desperate!

I've got a new Samsung monitor to replace my old generic PnP TFT monitor. Updated my ATI graphics card drivers, as I haven't updated them in a while. Hooked the Samsung monitor up, installed the drivers, restarted it, changed resolution and now the computer now just keeps giving me various blue screen crashes. They have been a few different ones from:

Error with sys32
System_Exception_Error
Paged_File_In_A_Non_Paged_Area

It is now just mainly giving me this error:
IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal
or Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal

I don't know if it is a virus, the new graphics card drivers, or the new monitor drivers. I have tried uninstalling the latest ATI graphic card drivers and going back to my original version, but this didn't help.

I've noticed when it lets me get into Windows, it crashes when I try to access the log files in the winevt folder, or when the memory dump folder is around four hundred MB, it doesn't even let me load up Vista in any mode. Deleting the log files through CMD in the Repair mode helps.

On the few occasions it does let me load Vista up, I get this Windows error pop-up:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 2057

Additional information about the problem:

You did just fine my friend. I did not do a full analysis since the problem seemed clear.
If you follow these instructions you should be ok

Your problem was relatively easy to resolve. The problem was clearly spelled out. Usually it takes quite few more BSODs to get to this point.

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done:
http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/faq

If the problem continues I will do a full analysis if you post the new dump report
If you have any questions or problems, just post again in this thread and I will try to help you. If you want a replacment for your Daemon or Alcohol, just ask.

Have a happy and healthy new year.

Thanks Rich, will do that now and report back here.

Now coming to think of it, I remember in my search for a solution, I saw an exclamation mark near the sptd driver, but didn't think anything of it.

That seemed to be working for about 20 minutes. So I went ahead and installed the latest ATI Catalyst Control Centre, and then a few minutes after got a Service_Exception_Error blue screen. I've run a new test and uploaded the results here

The reports that you have submitted reveal clues to the cause of your problem. They do not give a definitive answer. The more reports that we receive the more clues are made available improving our chances of finding a solution to your problem. You may have to experience several more BSODs until the final answer is discovered.
Your reports indicate a driver (or possibly a memory problem). Take the memory test and update the drivers. If BSODs still occur, I will investigate further. A driver verifier may have to be given.
If Sptd is not removed, remove the other part of the software. Then go here
C-->Windows-->System 32-->drivers. and change the extension of SPTD to .bup. It is better to remove with the uninstall tool, however

If overclocking restore normal settings

SFC /scannow
System Files - SFC Command

Download memtest86 and test RAM
www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html
Run for 8 passes
If passes try a good stick in each slot for 3 passes
If fails do the same for 8 passes.

Update outdated listed drivers. If I have inadvertently listed any Microsoft Drivers, they can be ignored. If the list is extensive I have included the driver verifier test so that you may determine which drivers are in need of immediate attention.

How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html
and here
http://www.edbott.com/weblog/the-vista-master-driver-list/
To remove any left over driver remnants, especially from graphics cards, use driver sweeper
www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
You can also locate information about your driver using this information
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96442-device-manager-finding-unknown-devices.html

-After performing all of the above, post back with any new BSOD reports, or indicate that the attempted repairs were successful.
If any links do not work, if clicked, please copy and paste to browser address bar.
It is very important to remember that the dump reports only give clues as to the problem and although it is very easy to analyze only one or two, usually more are needed. If you experience additional BSOD after installing a current version of the driver in question, be sure to post so that we can use the additional information to assist you in preventing the BSOD's

Its still there.. As SPTD uninstaller, has the uninstall option greyed out. I installed it, then uninstalled it again

Going to manually delete it from the Drivers folder and see what happens

Worked on it all today, but still no luck. Removed sptd and all programmes that use it. Removed all ATI stuff from my machine, and put in a new Nvidia graphics card, after reading ATIs have a few problems with Samsung Syncmaster monitors. I've attached a new file.

The IRQL error now majority of the time seems to say there is a problem with ataport.sys - Is this information helpful at all?

Go to
C-->Windows-->System 32-->drivers.
Change the SPTD extension to .bup.
Then if you get more BSODs post them

I rechecked the files. It appears that SPTD was trying to load, but could not because of the .bup change. Put it back the way it was, make sure that Daemon is fully removed.
