BSOD every time I start normally

Ok, here goes: I was playing a game, when my display went wonky and then the computer crashed. Since then, every time I start up again, unless I'm in safe mode, I get a BSOD immediately. (After logging in, that is; it seems to happen when drivers and such are being loaded.)

Many details to follow, feel free to skip to the crunchy bits afterward;

I'm thinking I'm having a problem with my video card. However, my attempts to reinstall the drivers have been met with nothing but frustration, as ATI's catalyst program delivers the "failed to load detection driver". And besides, I tried disabling the video card and restarting, to no avail - still BSOD.

Next, I tried using system restore; no dice. Still a BSOD every time I start.

Then, I scanned my computer with AVG's PC Tuneup, fixing registry errors and such, and defragging. (Obviously, all from safe mode.) Still BSOD.

Now, I was unsure if it really was the video card, so I decided to investigate the dump file. I tried downloading the Windows debugging kit through the SDK (per the instructions elsewhere on the forum), so I could try to make sense of my dump log... And the install wouldn't work, as the windows installer can't be accessed in safe mode. Perhaps this is also why Catalyst won't work...

Anyway, here I am; I know, in theory, how to parse the log to see which driver is going wrong, but I can't do it from Safe Mode, and I can't boot normally.

So, can some kind person help me out? I followed the instructions here, and have attached the resulting file.

Info on my computer:

I will be happy to help. One report rarely gives the required information to stop the BSODs. Since you have many, please submit them with your next post. Right now it looks like a graphics driver. But lets not guess, lets try to do this the right way.

Thanks for your quick reply!

So, somewhere in my attempts to fix this, possibly the PC Tuneup, the dump files were deleted. However, I did find this, and was able to parse the logs before they were deleted. Each time, it seems, we had the same error, hanging on the file atipmdaq.sys

I'm attaching a file from my latest attempt to start up, as an example.

Of course, this is despite starting with the Radeon HD 3650 disabled in the device manager.

So, should I try harder to replace the drivers (since Catalyst won't work)? I'm worried that the video card itself may be damaged somehow.

If the other reports, also gave the same results, that may actually be the cause.
I would try to update the card. If going to the web site does not help, update via Windows Update. If that does not result in a better working computer, roll back to the prior driver, per Windows Update.
In device manager look for any yellow warning markers, or any part of the tree that is open.
If updating the driver does not work. Send me the next report and I will give it a full examination and suggest any possible remedy. If they do not work, the card may, indeed, be damaged.

Tried amd.com again, but the only way to get the drivers is through the Catalyst manager, which keeps giving "failed to load detection drivers".

Tried going through Lenovo; specifically here,
but this, again, tried to use Catalyst.

Windows update won't seem to load in Safe Mode.

In the device manager, the "roll back to previous driver" option is greyed out - looks like I don't have a previous driver on here. However, you can see on the Lenovo link that their "switchable graphics" driver was last updated in April of 2009, which would mean I have the latest drivers.

Given the sudden onset of this problem (I'd been playing games on the computer for quite a while with no difficulty), and the fact that my drivers, as far as I'm able to check from within safe mode, seem to be up to date, I'm thinking the hardware itself is damaged. (Possibly overheating?)

I'm a bit confused about why this error would occur even when the Radeon is disabled in the device manager, but that confusion has more to do with my own ignorance than anything else.

I've attached one last dump file from an attempt to load windows normally, in case you want to look more closely at it.

Let's suppose, though, that the Radeon is just totally fried. What can I do about this?

There is the possibility that you need a new card. That being the case, you just have to go out and buy one.
You said that you have been using the system without problem. Did you do anything about the time the problem started. Maybe add some software?

I will give you software to check for overheating
SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

The fact that it starts upon boot means that it is an essential driver or card that is causing the problem. Try to get in with safe mode and perform a system restore from before the poblem began. Go back a week before the problem.

Went back a week before the problem, still no dice. I guess I'll have to buy a new gpu, but the reason I was confused, was this: will I be able to install it if I can only load to safe mode?
