BlueScreen in Vista Home Premium x64

Hi guys, awhile back I got blue screen.. happened while shutting down. By the time I tried to restore before that time it was too late. Now its starting to happen while the computer is running normally. When looking at my minidump folder I see the first one happened on April 2nd.. I have had 17 more minidumps so far. Now I go in safemode with networking and everything is fine.

Is there anyway I can post the first minidump file as well as another one for someone to look at?? Not sure how to attach that type of file, Thanks

Hi, appreciate the speedy help around here :)

Here is some more info:

HP
M9250F
Desktop
64 bit Full Retail Version was already installed when I bought it.
Malwarebytes and Avira
Had this system for almost 3 years now. Same OS no new hardware added inside except for a blu-ray burner awhile back.

I would also like to add that every so often the fan starts turning on and is quite loud. In safe mode this never happens. Seems like when its about to update avira it will turn on. And then will turn on whenever. Its starting to do it more often now, even right when its loading up the desktop it does it. It also has lag now when I start it up normally, everything just seems to go a lot slower. Think this weekend I'm going to open it up and vacuum it out really good.

Well that took quite a while for it to finish.. fan must have turned on more then 10 times, thought it was going to BlueScreen for sure lol. Thanks Again

Many thanks, I'll give that a try. How come I should remove alchohol 120, sptd.sys??

I kept seeing seeing Rtlh64.sys on the bluescreen... what about the constant loud fan noise??? Should I take it in to get looked at?

Several answers
SPTD is a known cause or catalyst of BSOD, dump it. If you want a replacement, just ask.
Fan noise. Lets gets this fixed and see what happens.

I deleted sptd.sys in the drivers folder. I tried to install a optional windows update for realtek TRL8168C/811C but when it was installing it bluescreened. Not sure what I should do now.. I went to the website and couldn't find anything

I think I removed alcohol 120 and not sure about daemon.

If you can, go to search and type
cmd
In cmd type
driverquery. Do you see SPTD?

Download the driver to desktop. Then you will not need the internet. You should be able to install from the desktop.

nope sptd is not showing up in driverquery. I keep getting error when trying to update driver in windows update. First error was 80246007, I made sure I had everything set up the same, which it was. Then it bluescreened.. I removed sptd and then tried windows update again and got error 80070103, which says that I am trying to install a driver that is already installed on your computer or a driver that has a lower compatibility rating then the one already installed. So I went into device manager and tried to update it manually and it says that the best driver software for your device is already installed.. windows has determined the driver software is up to date.

This is the driver in question:
Rtlh64 Rtlh64.sys Wed Oct 03 04:18:19 2007
I really doubt that 2007 is the most current.

Windows update is not the way to go. Try going to realtek website and see if you can update from there.

If you have problems. Use windows update to roll back.

I would try a roll back first (from Windows Update) and see how that works. If you still have problems, you have no choice but to try again.
Always make a system restore point, first.

Go to device manager. Go to driver, you will see roll back. That will give you the previous driver, that may work better.
I always make a manual restore point, sometimes they are not made automatically. You do not want to take a chance.

According to the dump report (I gave you a portion), it showed 2007. If that does not work, try to update from the website. It cannot say that you have the most current, anymore. If you get another BSOD, give me the report, too.

Hmmm... I watched a video on Google Videos about the Angry German Kid, a famous internet video that is edited loads of times and apparently the BSOD was replaced with the Red Screen???
