BSOD during boot up after remowing gfx driver

I got the latest driver for my graphics card, but it did not detect the previous driver. So I unistalled the old driver and restarted the computer. Gets a BSOD with STOP 0x0000007E during boot up. The startup repair tool is broken but safe mode works. Installing the new driver under safe mode does not work. Shuld I try to run BSOD Dump & System File Collection app under safe mode?

I can't give you the other file, as previously stated it returns an error when I run "perfmon /report" in the command line.

The memtest completed 7 passes without a hitch. Nothing wrong withe the memory, The hardware runs a linux distro without problems.

Booting up no longer BSOD, instead the startup screen is shown but nothing happens. I can still boot up safe mode.

My previous statement about the PC running GNU/Linux fine is sort of messed up (started minecraft under Ubuntu then this happened)

The BSOD does not occur when I boot up the computer, instead the startup screen is shown but nothing happens. Thus I cannot reproduce the fault. Also I can only boot into safe mode.

I still suggest that you do the driver verifier as it will force the driver to crash and then we will know what is causing the problem.

Apparantly I did not wait long enough for the crash too occur. I ran the drive verifier and it printed something like "I/O verification error in NTIDRI.SYS". I uninstalled NTI months ago. What do i do now?

Drive Sweeper has been discontinued. Found an older version (2.8) but it did not work. Found NTIDrvr.sys and changed its extension to .bup. Reboot. After a long time the boot up screen BSOD, stop code 0x0000007E. I ran verifier with all installed drivers, after a long time in front of the boot up screen:

"IO SYSTEM VERIFICATION ERROR IN HIDCLASS.SYS"

I can't update the driver since Windows Update does not work in safe mode. Look like the windows installation is broken beyond repair. I'll use the factory reset disk and If that does not work Windows Vista is officially out for me.

Should this be marked as solved?
