System Service Exception 03b

Kirkistan

Member
Twice or more a day my HP Pavilion (m9300t) crashes and gives me a bsod saying "System Service Exception." Thinking it might be heat related, I opened the case and shoot a fan in, which helped for a day or so. Running Vista x64 Home Premium. Original Installation for the software. 4GB of RAM. Hardware purchased in Sept 2008.

I've attached the two files per "BSOD - Posting Instructions"

Any insights or suggestions welcome--and thank you.

Hey americancritic: thanks for helping. In your last note, you said "do the following test" but I did not see any instructions, nor any test. Tell me if I missed something. You asked me to upload any more "System Service Exception" BSODs, which I will do (though I hope it doesn't happen anymore). I assume by "uploading" you mean the same process as listed in "BSOD - Posting Instructions."

Thanks. I won't be able to try it for 24 hours or so. May I assume that though it is a Windows 7 test it also works for Vista?

I'm working on the Memtest, but even that is problematic. I've downloaded the file to a flash drive but I'm struggling to get the computer to boot from it. It does not happen automatically. Going into the BIOS is not simple: interrupting the startup sequence doesn't usually work by hitting the F10 key, for instance. And the one time I did get into the BIOS, there was no option for booting from a flash drive or booting from USB. Suggestions appreciated.

It will be easer if you download it and then burn it to a disk instead of a usb.

Thanks. I started to do that but then couldn't figure out how to get to the disc burner. My screens didn't look like the screens on the instructions. I'll try it again. Sorry to be such a dummy!

HI you can save it all to your desktop then do the following. Be sure that you put a disk in before you start...

1. Save all to you desktop.
2. Right click on the file you want to burn...
3. A list will come up and then you click Send To:
4. A side popup will open...
5. Scroll down to the drive that burns your disk's...
6. As soon as you select the drive it will start to burn automatically...

This just doesn't seem to be working. I followed your directions line by line, three times now. The first time I burned a CD with the Zip file. that didn't boot. The second time I unzipped the file and burned a CD with those three files. That didn't boot. The third time I extracted the files to my desktop and then burned a CD with the three files. That didn't boot. So. I"m using the bootable cd file from your instruction. any thoughts?

Ok lets try this.

1. Download the memtest to your desktop
2. Right click the file you downloaded
3. Scroll down to where it says SEND TO
4. Then click the drive you want it to go to, it will give you more then one, chose the one that is your burner, mine is drive E someone elses might be D.

Try this and let me know if you are able to do so if not I will go in a different direction. I am real sorry you are having a pain in the Bu--t system right now but we will get it fixed. I will call some friends to join in on this as they might have a easer way to do it...

Thanks for your help. Actually, that is the way I did it the first or second time. Mine is the E drive as well. It seems the problem is I'm sending an unzipped file to be burned on the CD. So my computer doesn't see the boot file. But when I unzip it and try to place all three files on the CD to burn, it seems to turn back into a zip file.

Again: thanks for the help and sorry to be such a flunky, but none of these instructions seem to work. I know this is the simple part! I use Firefox so when I "download the file" it goes to the Download file. All along I've assumed i need to use Winzip, which I've downloaded and used the evaluation version. Am I right in using that?

I know of no other way to extract a file, which i need to do before I use the 7zip provided in the cliff notes version.

Thanks,.

Let me try again to tell you how this is not working. I download the file using Firefox. I go to the "Downloads" section and I see the file. To get that file to my desktop, I need to use Winzip to unzip the file and place it on my desktop, right?
