I've been having an issue where my laptop, a Gateway NV52, displays a blue screen error as it is shutting down, and then it automatically restarts. After signing back in, the screen says that Windows has recovered from a serious error and shows details.

Hello

I have looked at your BSOD files and you have 9 minidump files that come back to the same thing.

Stop Code error is ox7E - RTSTOR64.sys

Do you have a Realtex usb card reader on your computer, if so please let me know so I can continue...

Tom

Actually, the card reader slot on the side of my laptop may be Realtek, but the Gateway site doesn't specify, and the drivers list doesn't say either. At least, not that I've found.

Hello please check to see if your drivers are up to date.

Click Start...
Type device manage...
update drivers...
view...
show hidden devices..

Check and see if there are any yellow warning flags next to any driver.

Then let me know

Ok I am sure that the card reader is the probelm.

Did it come with it already installed or did you install it later, plus in your perf report comes back to it also.

I am sure it is a driver issue but to narrow down the search might be difficult, I will look a little long and then we might have to perform another test...

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffffa60041021f1, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffffa6006ffd8e8, Exception Record Address

After the anti virus

If you do not know if you have that dirver (and you do) go to search and type cmd.
In cmd type driverquery. If you see the driver, go to to the source and change the extension to.bup, if you do not know how to unintalll it.
Then see what happens
